A reflection on Burwarton Show 2022

Back with a bang after a two year break, what a fabulous day Thursday 4th August was for our 128th Burwarton Show. The sun shone and crowds poured through the gate to see our impressive array of agricultural activity, displays, stalls and fun for all the family.

Our Cleobury North showground, which took four weeks to lay out and construct, has now been packed away and returned to the sheep for another year – until the build-up begins for next year’s event on Thursday 3rd August 2023. In the meantime, it’s time to say a few thank yous:

Thank you to our dedicated show team

Firstly, thank you to our Show Manager, Committee, over 300 stewards and all the volunteers that work so hard to make Burwarton Show happen. The biggest one-day show in Shropshire certainly wouldn’t exist without you.

Also a huge thank you to the many livestock and horse exhibitors who continue to flock to our show. These animals are the heart of the countryside, and exactly why agricultural shows are such an important event in our calendar – to show off prime animals to the public.

To all the sponsors who have generously donated awards and prize money for all our show day competitions, we’re incredibly appreciative of your support. It’s fantastic to be able to reward all the hard work of our livestock, horse, home craft, trade stand, horticulture, arable and children’s competition winners.

A fun day out for all the family

We’re also very grateful to all the producers and vendors, both local and from far-afield, who brought tradestands to Burwarton Show. What an amazing array of shopping there was to be had. I’m sure all our show visitors went home with something new!

Thank you to the wide variety of entertainers who drew a crowd around our showground, on our Village Green and in the Main Ring. Our visitors were spoilt for choice with Ollie’s Equestrian stunt riders, Jamie Squibb’s motorcycle stunt team, and giant tortoises at the top of our entertainment schedule. Children and adults alike will have learned something new and have stories to tell.

Showgoers had an amazing choice of food on offer at Burwarton once again, thanks to all the hard-working catering outlets and Food Hall stalls. Our brand new Wot’s Cooking demonstration stage, complete with tasting for the audience, was a massive success and we’re looking forward to making this a permanent fixture.

And finally, an enormous thank you to our supportive Burwarton and District Agricultural Society members and of course the public who took the day off to visit our vibrant show after a three year break.

Burwarton Show 2023

We hope you had a fabulous day, and are very grateful for all the positive feedback we’ve received. We’ll now spend the winter planning the next Burwarton Show and look forward to welcoming you on Thursday 3rd August 2023.
